SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Whelan Accountancy, based in Dublin Hill, Cork, are seeking to welcome a Senior Accountant to join their team.

Whelan Accountancy offer clients tailor-made accountancy and business consultancy services to suit both start-ups and established SME’s. Their mission is to help their clients achieve success by ensuring personalised attention and a commitment to service. They pride themselves on customising
their services to each company’s needs. These services include cash flow management, bookkeeping, annual accounts, payroll, business planning & development, stakeholder management, tax & CRO filings and board services.

The successful candidate will be a trainee accountant who is currently studying towards or completing exams or who has recently qualified. You will be looking to develop your skills within a client facing and varied General Practice role which will be heavily focused on providing business advisory, accounting, audit and tax services, working with a client base spanning across many sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a successful candidate to grow into a fully qualified accountant and to build a rewarding career in professional services while helping businesses across the region to maximise their potential.

Role:

  • Managing Clients on a daily basis in terms of their accounting and financial requirements.
  • You will be lead a team of professionals working to ensure the highest quality of service is provided to all Clients.
  • Preparing and Filing financial statements and reporting are a large part of the day-to-day work.
  • The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Management and meetings.
  • CRO Filings.
  • Tax Management and filings.
  • Production of Management Accounts.
  • Production of Annual Accounts.
  • KPI Reporting.
  • Company Valuations.
  • Governance and Stakeholder Management.
  • Staff Scheduling.
  • Client Project Management.

Requirements:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizing abilities.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting
    principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant
    computer software (e.g. SAGE).
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA,CIMA,CPA).

TRAINEE / JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with full cycle client management across accounts, tax and audit.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, preparing reconciliation and financial analysis files for review by management.
  • Assisting with the preparation of customer statements to ensure that customer accounts are kept up to date.
  • Completing and filing of VAT and tax returns and preparing trackers to make sure that deadlines are adhered to.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and compiling reports of monthly financial results.
  • Running reports and preparing analyses to support management.
  • Assisting in the preparation for and completion of company audits.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Providing advice to clients on tax planning and efficiencies
  • Updating internal documents and adhering to internal controls.
  •  Assisting with ad-hoc projects, as required, to support existing services and processes.

Successful candidate requirements:

  • Working towards or recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Experience of working in an accounting role is desired but not essential.
  • Fluent English.
  • The right to live and work in Ireland.

Accounts Administrator

Whelan Accountancy, based in Dublin Hill, Cork, are seeking to welcome an Accounts Administrator to join their team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Bureau Management.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • The preparation of monthly/yearly accounts.
  • Assist with other accounting projects.
