SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Whelan Accountancy, based in Dublin Hill, Cork, is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join their practice.
Whelan Accountancy offers clients tailor-made accountancy and business consultancy services to suit both start-ups and established SME’s. Their mission is to help their clients achieve success by ensuring personalised attention and a commitment to service. They pride themselves on customising their services to each company’s needs. These services include cash flow management, bookkeeping, annual accounts, payroll, business planning & development, stakeholder management, tax & CRO filings, and board services. The successful candidate will be a senior accountant who enjoys a client-facing and varied General Practice role which will be heavily focused on providing business advisory, accounting, audit, and tax services. You will be working with a client base spanning many sectors, and you will also be managing the staff within the practice and providing mentoring, advice, and support to more junior accountants.

You will ideally have a broad range of experience across accounting and financial management along with an ambition to develop your career.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Full cycle client management across accounts, tax, and audit
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts detailed reporting of monthly financial results for discussion with clients and Partners.
    Assisting in the Budget Management of clients’ businesses and reconciling same with performance.
  • Preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly forecasts, reporting key variances, and highlighting key features.
  • Preparation and completion of company audits.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and managing client expectations and business competition.
  • Providing advice to clients on tax planning and efficiencies.
  • Assisting with and managing ad-hoc projects, as required, to support existing services and processes as well as addressing developments and proposals.
  • Participating in enhancing the reporting system to communicate financial performance and results to clients in a timely and relevant manner.
  • Review business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Co-ordinating, managing, and leading the practice’s team
  • Developing junior staff, providing support, guidance, and mentorship as required.

Successful candidate requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
  • 8+ years relevant Post-Qualification Accountancy experience
    Fluent English
  • The right to live and work in Ireland

The successful candidate will be a trainee accountant who is currently studying towards or completing exams or who has recently qualified. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assisting with full cycle client management across accounts, tax and audit
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, preparing reconciliation and financial analysis files for review by management
  • Assisting with the preparation of customer statements to ensure that customer accounts are kept up to date
  •  Completing and filing of VAT and tax returns and preparing trackers to make sure that deadlines are adhered to
  •  Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and compiling reports of monthly financial results
  •  Running reports and preparing analyses to support management
  •  Assisting in the preparation for and completion of company audits
  •  Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
  •  Providing advice to clients on tax planning and efficiencies
  • Updating internal documents and adhering to internal controls
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects, as required, to support existing services and processes

Successful candidate requirements

  •  Working towards or recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Experience of working in an accounting role is desired but not essential
  •  Fluent English

ADMINISTRATOR

The successful candidate will be an administrator who enjoys working in a small practice, has excellent attention to detail, and is looking for a role that is varied. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for being the first point of contact for all clients, will have overall responsibility for office administration, and will support accounting staff with the processing of accounts and supporting documentation.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Providing administration support to accountants and assisting with the processing of accounts documentation across all aspects of client account management
  •  Ensuring accounts processing has been completed by all relevant deadlines and that service levels are maintained
  •  Ensuring that archives and records are accurately maintained, confidential, and readily available to the appropriate authorised personnel
  •  Providing PA support and diary management to the managing director
  •  Promoting the company by providing a friendly and professional service to our clients and partner companies as the first point of contact
  •  Meeting and greeting all clients or partners who attend the practice
  • Answering the phone and managing the practice general enquiry email address – answering basic incoming queries and delegating all other queries appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Managing the incoming and outgoing post, including maintaining an appropriate level of postage stamps and signing for all deliveries
  •  Managing bookings for the boardroom and other offices as required
  • Completing stationery orders and ensuring appropriate levels of stock for stationery are maintained for the practice
  • Ensuring that the day-to-day administration of the office is efficient, cost-conscious and all supporting equipment (e.g. phones, printers, laptops) is in working order
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects, as required, to support existing services and processes

Successful candidate requirements

  •  A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar administration position
  • Experience of working in an accountancy practice would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Fluent English

These services include cash flow management, bookkeeping, annual accounts, payroll, business planning & development, stakeholder management, tax & CRO filings, and board services.
The successful candidate will be an accounts administrator who enjoys working in a small practice, has excellent attention to detail, and is looking for a part-time role that is varied. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for providing accounts administration support to clients at their own premises.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Providing accounts administration support to clients primarily onsite at their own premise
  • Processing of accounts documentation across all aspects of client account management, including day-to-day accounts payable and receivable, processing of supplier invoices against approved Purchase orders, and processing employee expenses.
  • Effectively managing the relationship with multiple clients across multiple sites and being able to adapt to different working environments with ease
  • Ensuring accounts processing has been completed by all relevant deadlines and that service levels are maintained
  • Ensuring that archives and records are accurately maintained, confidential and readily available to the appropriate authorised personnel
  • Promoting the company by providing a friendly and professional service to our clients and partner companies
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects, as required, to support existing services and processes

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar accounts administration position
  • Full driver’s licence and own car
